Homemaking Honey's FHE idea

I came across a super easy, fun Family Home Evening Idea at:

Homemaking Honeys

Check out her fun idea {by clicking on her link above} for counting your blessings at Family Night. We actually did this for our family night this week, and our boys LOVED it. It was a hit. The only thing I changed was instead of using leaves to write our blessings, I got lazy and hit up the local Michaels for some foam turkeys. Those worked great too! The kids loved the activity..and now I have a fun Thanksgiving decoration for our home.

A great lesson for teaching your children what it truly means to have your "cup runneth over".

Happy Lesson Planning!

Fall Pumpkins

We have all seen the many tutorials for re-vamping pumpkins all over blogland, right?! Well, last season I actually came across a tutorial that I loved..and of course never got around to until this season. BUT. It got done, and best..it was simple, easy..and cheap.

I got my pumpkins on clearance after last season {of course, that's the best way!} Spray painted them an ivory white. Then using my glue gun...glued my twine rope up each crease of the pumpkin. Then for the stem, just wind it around..but make sure to glue it a few times as your winding.

So easy, and I love how they turned out. and they go perfect on my DIY Platters!

DIY Platter!

I love Ross shopping! I found some awesome plates that I couldn't pass up. Just a little Gorilla Glue, and a Hobby Lobby run..and here's what it ended up as!

Here's what you will need:

Epoxy Gorilla Glue {or any strong bonding glue}
Plain Wood Candlestick {hobby lobby or Michaels}
Small Wood Circle plaque {these are in the wood section and about 50cents each}

Glue your candlestick to your small circle plaque using your epoxy glue. Let dry, and paint whatever color you prefer! I prefer about 2 or 3 coats of paint. Once your paint is dry..sand it down with some sandpaper for a little distress. Next, throw some epoxy on top of the candlestick and place your plate on top. Hold down firmly for a minute or two, allowing it to start drying in the correct spot. Then set aside for it to completely dry.

and done!

So fun for any occaision! Make a couple of them, different sizes, mismatching. All for under $5 each!
